It is a big place, isn't it? Our Australian sunflowers bloomed in 
January, perhaps they were a different variety. I'll have to look for 
one of my pics. It was quite a sight. I enjoyed what little I saw of 
Australia and hope to return some day. My only negatives were that they 
pour the drinks too shallow in the bars. (I had to order four whiskeys 
at once and  tell the bartender to put them all in one glass.:-) And I 
could do quite nicely without those summer flies, although the locals 
seemed quite accustomed to them.

LOL! No Paul!  QLD is a very big place.  I am about 9 hours drive 
north-west
of Toowoomba.

Not sure of the small town you are referring to though...

We have ALOT of sunflowers around here, and lots of cotton too (looks 
like
snow when it is all in flower! lol)...  My boys love to collect the 
dead
flower heads from the side of the road and eat the seeds (sunflower
seeds)...

I have a wedding in April, the date of which was chosen specifically 
by the
couple to be during the height of the sunflower season, and I just 
can't
wait!  Can you imagine a bride in white dress, with deep blue skies, 
and
bright yellow sunflowers... Beautiful stuff!

Are you close to Towomba? (I think that's how it's spelled.) It's a
fairly large town in central QLD, about two hours drive from Brisbane
if memory serves me correct. I spent a couple of weeks there on an
advertising shoot a few years ago. We did the actual shooting in a 
tiny
farm town that was about a 20 minute drive from there. The name of the
town began with an "A," but I can't recall it now. It claimed to be 
the
sunflower capital of the world. Somewhere I have some pics of 50 acre
sunflower fields. And yes, I was there to shoot the sunflowers.
