You can greatly reduce this problem by getting an eyecup M for the 5n. I
think that part of the problem is glare of the lens in the viewfinder. The
eyecup M does a good job of blocking light coming in around your eye and has
made it easier for me to see the LED's. This will also work for the ZX-30
and maybe all of the ZX cameras.

For anyone who shoots a lot in bright conditions, this is a fatal design
flaw. It is the primary reason I did not buy a 5n. The problem is common
to the P/Z and Z/X series cameras, but other models put the exposure
information on the external lcd. Pentax switched off their collective
brains on this aspect of the 5n.

OTOH, this flaw steered me to the PZ-1p, with which I am quite pleased.

You can overcome this problem, as another poster suggested.

It's going to be interesting to see if the viewfinder in the MZ-S can be
read in bright daylight.
