1) Try new batteries
2) Clean the rewind post on the MX. They get gummy with age and increase the
friction on unrolling the film from the cassette. (The winder Thinks things
are too tight, so I've reached the end of the roll.) Open the camera back.
Hold a coin in the film slot on the rewind crank. Screw off the plastic top
with crank. Clean the metal shaft. (The more adventurious can remove the shaft
entirely, clean it, and then fiddle it back into the body.)

>>recently bought an MX Winder (from a shop with 3 months g'tee). The winder
worked fine on my MX in the shop without film but with film in the camera (new
batteries in the winder) it sometimes fails to complete a wind and I'll have
to finish manually. Sometimes it does this and the light stays on (indicating
the end of film, although it's not) and sometimes there is no light. When the
end of film is reached the light doesn't usually come on, you can hear the
winder 'slipping' as it tries to wind. Generally the winding sounds a bit
laboured.

Any ideas?<<
