Large outlays always require extra justification. Whether personal or in business. Cheaper in the long run makes no diff. Immediate impact, and the emotions that go with it, are the driving force here. In my field (software) it's not uncommon to see a firm with 20-30 PC servers running Win2K. Many operations that size can save a lot of money with the S/390. That's in the long run. But the initial cost is high. And pc servers are "cheap". So they seem. Emotions rule the day. Collin
