The focussing issue is separate from the 'hesitation', but both faults often
come together. The wrong mirror rest position, that is causing the focussing
issue is very straightforward to fix. The hesitation is far more difficult
to repair.
If the camera only has a slight hesitation in the shop and after being
worked a couple of times, it may well seize completely after two weeks of
rest or when put into cold conditions. It needs a knowledgeable repairer to
fix this.

When it works, it is a pleasure to use and you will be proud to have one.
After all, it is the only LX that Pentax ever made...

Betreff: LX envy

I have an opportunity to add an LX outfit to my camera collection. It is in
the shop at the moment due to a little stickiness in the mirror - it does
not stick up but rather falls most of the way and then, after a short lag,
seems to fall too far, causing focusing issues with my f1.4 lenses.
Assuming the shop can repair the problem I will be able to purchase it with
the FA-1 finder, FC-1 finder (with base), two focusing screens, and the
Winder LX for $400. The body (other than mentioned above) has paint rubbed
off near the strap lugs and a little on the shutter lock switch, but very
nice in other respects, and very little wear in the film path. The finders
and the winder seem near mint and one of the screens looks unused with box
and tool. This seems like a great deal to me. Any reason I should think
twice about this?

Sincerely,

Cautious Buyer
