1: Some digest-dwellers will reply to a post, and the subject line will only tell us from what digest it came. Is it possible to manually change the subject line so that it reflects the original one? Since, like everyone else, I wade through on average 150 - 250 posts a day, I have to vet the list by subject line, and I can't do that unless I know what the subject line is. So, when the subject line becomes a digest number, I tend to ignore them.
2: I love threads that go off on tangents. I really think they're fun. But, it would be nice if the subject line changed to reflect that. Otherwise, a previously uninteresting thread may suddenly become interesting, but I'll never know it!
3: If you're going to change the subject line (which is a great idea if the subject changes - see above), could you leave in the previous subject line? Sort of like, "OT - Frank's an Ass-was: Frank's a Jerk"). Hotmail sometimes does a really bad job of sorting threads, and if the subject line changes, it won't get lumped in with the original thread. Then, everything is out of context, and I have no idea what's going on (which I mostly don't anyway <g>).
4: If one is going to quote someone from a previous post, could you tell us who you've quoted from? On really long threads, where I don't read every post, it would be nice to know who said what, if you're going to refer to them. Helps put it into context.
Well, like I said, these aren't really big deals, any of them. Maybe I'm the only one who has these issues. If so, feel free to ignore me. But, IMHO, these things make some amount of sense in helping sift through the huge volume that this list generates.
thanks and cheers, frank
