To be fair, it is pretty hard to stabilize 800mm, no matter what is
behind it.
For myself, I wouldn't use a metal tripod at all for that much focal
length.

They fixed the film advance at the same time they put miror lock on,
and I think they may have done something else sometime later as well.
I have had the advance on my 6x7 fixed twice now.
The first time was after shooting about 50 rolls of the then new
T-Max 100 film.
The camera then went for a very long time, and shot many hundreds of
rolls of film, probably closer to a couple of thousand, before the
next adjustment.

You will know when you need to send it in, as the frame spacing goes
wonky well before it starts overlapping frames.
