Pentax do make high refractive index lenses for spectacles, which indicates they do 
make their own glass. Don't see why they wouldn't do the same for their photographic 
lenses too.

    I don't believe so, most glass for lenses is sourced from Schott or Hoya. Even 
    Leica who did produce small batches of very specialized glasses for production 
    now have it produced to spec (formulations protected) but even this is oft
