Well, if they gave the same marks to 15-30 and 24/1.8 series, I would think that the lens is not much good. I have tried the 15-30 on both digitial (6MP) - adequate, and film (totally unadequate until f/8). It's a nice zoom when you use it at f/11 or so, and on digital (crop) it's slightly better, but like the recent Sigma ultrawides, field performance (outer zones) really suffers until way stopped down. Same with 14/2.8 and similar. But, nevertheless, it's an outstanding optical achievement to design such lenses that cover full frame 35mm film AND go that superwide AND zoom! And for most uses, they are I think ok. Just stop them down a bit. And before coming to conclusions, test them yourself. Don't believe in magazine tests! They are mostly meaningless nowadays.
