Hi, Shel,

The low battery makes perfect sense. The cold, plus firing off 3 or 4 rolls might have drained it a bit faster than usual.

Then not shooting at the party until a couple of hours later, plus the fact that it was inside and warm, might have "revived" the battery enough that there was no problem.

I'll pick up a new battery ASAP.

It was you I was thinking about when I realized how loud the LX is, as you've mentioned it before. <g>

We'll see how the racing shots turn out. There was actually a bit of interest from those at the race, and from the organizers, including maybe a showing of some of them at a local bike advocacy group's office/workspace. That would be cool.

There were a couple of pj's there (one was freelance, and the other wasn't very friendly, so I didn't talk to him) one with a Nikon Digital, the other with a couple of Digial Canons with HUGE lenses around his neck. Funny, but they really didn't get "into the fray" as it were. Stood fairly far back, and took mostly telephoto shots.

I was doing the telephoto thing too, but since we were on the "infield", we could safely get to within a couple of feet of the riders as they cornered. I was lying on the ice, with my 19mm, as they whizzed to within about 18 inches from me, while I was panning.

I don't know that they'll turn out, but my point is that these guys just seemed interested in getting pretty generic shots. Or, so it seemed to me.

Howdy, Frank ...

I understand how you feel about using two different bodies.
It can sometimes get in the way (for me) big time.

Had a similar experience recently with my LX mirror. Try
new batteries. Cleared up the problem immediately. BTW,
try the larger Lithium battery, CR 1/3N. They last a
l-o-n-g time. Been changing over all my cameras to those as
needed.

I'm anticipating some nice ice racing shots <smile>
