Given that the new lens is a rectilinear design not a fisheye then yes it won't produce the classic fisheye distortion (fisheye distortion is predictable so can be corrected by electronic filtering to resemble a rectilinear view). They may suffer from other geometric distortions such as pin-cushion or barrel though.
