I'm not sure even Adobe is doing that. I believe the photoshop code is using Dave Coffin's dcraw program, and the last time I looked that didn't read the settings from the RAW file, but just applied auto-white-balance. (It also uses a Bayer interpolation algorithm I'm not all that fond of)
