OK, somebody here might have given me a line on an M20/4.0, but if it pans out I need to know if I really want to buy it.
Looking at Boz's site it is really small and cute, ideal for travel IF it is a decent performer. Shel has already suggested that the K20/4 is weak at the edges as was its Super Tak predecessor which I KNOW to be weak at the edges. M 20/4.0 has 8 elements in 8 groups, compared to something like 11 in 10 for the K and 11 or 10 elements in 8-10 groups for the f/4 and f/3.5 nikkor 20s (which are also not great at the edges). The simpler construction suggests that M20/4.0 is going to be WORSE that K20/4.0 at the edges. Andre has already suggested that M20/4 is not well corrected for distortion. Anybody want to speak up in favor of this lens from an optical standpoint? I don't expect it to be the equal of A/FA 20/2.8, of course, but it has to be better than Super-Tak/SMC Tak 20/4.5 to even consider since I've GOT a 20/4.5 or three. DJE
