On 4/3/04, VARIOUS PDML PILLARS OF SOCIETY disgorged: >> I was thinking an SLR, but this thing is a SIGNIFICANT >> improvement over the first Leica/Panasonic digital thingie >> from what I can see. >> I considered buying the first version, but the manual >> functions were too hard to access and the AF was apparently weak. >> It's still more like a "leica-ized" P&S than a "digitized" >> Leica to my eye, > >That's exactly right. A friend of mine picked one up and showed it to me a >few days ago. It feels very plasticky and light. It's bulkier than I thought >it would be too. > >Haven't heard back from him on image quality yet. > >The finder bothered me...you can MF it, but the viewfinder is an LCD...I >couldn't really trust it enough to know if anything was in focus. I'm sure >I'd just use AF with it. > >One nice thing it that it focuses *very* close... > >I was thinking of getting one as my walking around camera but I think I'm >going to pass...
The Digilux 2 is still set to have an electronic viewfinder - eg - an electronic screen viewed through the eyepiece, as well as the LCD screen on the back. NOT INTERESTED!
