The best thing about RAW is that all settings in the camera are undoable at a later stage, if you need to. The captured image data and the adjustments are stored separately in the file. With *.tif and *.jpg, the adjustments are applied irreversably to the file. The settings you do in the camera are not irrelevant as such.
