It cost me AU$55 to get mine cleaned by Pentax.  I dropped it off at
noon and it was ready at 9:30 the next day (they open at 8).  I think
mine was the first one they had to do in Melbourne so they took their
time.  With a bit of convincing I think I could get them to do it while
I waited, but I'd prefer not to have to do it very often.  I've taken
to dusting lenses before I attach them to make sure there is as little
dust as possible in there.

This is my situation at the moment.  I'd be confident following the
professional method if I knew what it was, but I don't know what they
use.
