Regrettable that this won't be faster. I hope for an f2.0.
I don't know enough about lens design to answer this myself: Is there a
reason why a lens at this focal length, for the APS-sized sensor, isn't
designed to be faster? The DA 14 f2.8 will have a 77 mm. filter, which
is large. Would an f2.0 have to be so much wider and heavier and more
expensive?
Does Pentax just figure that an f2.0 would be so much more expensive
that they wouldn't sell enough of them? Or do they figure that the
minimum exposure sensitivity of the *ist D, ISO 200, makes up for slow
lenses? (It doesn't for me - I use fast, wide primes primarily indoors
with available light, in places where it is hard to set up a tripod.)
Will we see any faster primes in the 12 to 14 mm. focal length, maybe
from Sigma?
Thanks,
Joe
