Kirk plates for ist-D

I received the Kirk (Swiss-Arca standard) mounting plates 
today; one each for the *ist-D and for the *ist-D with Grip. 
I have only tried the fit of the one for the Grip. As 
expected, it fits beautifully. One thing I like about this 
system is how unobtrusive the plate is. When hand holding an 
MZ-S or *ist-D using the vertical Grip, any Bogen/Manfrotto 
tripod mounting plate I have ever tried has been a bulky 
nuisance with relatively sharp edges that obstruct and 
distract. The Kirk (and similar Wimberly generic plates) are 
quite unobtrusive.

In the interim I had been using a generic 3-inch Wimberly 
plate on my *ist-D with the Grip mounted. That combination 
was not good: the plate blocked the battery door just enough 
that the plate had to be removed to change batteries. The 
custom Kirk plate allows just enough room for the battery 
door to swing up just far enough to change batteries.
