The Canon has the better lens from f:1.7 up to f:2.8 - Rolleis Sonnar is better after that ;-) The Canon is a bit soft at wide apertures, very good stopped down. Sonnar is excellent. The f:2/40 Summicron is very good, but I had so long ago that its not easy to compare. All the best! Raimo K Personal photography homepage at: http:\\www.uusikaupunki.fi/~raikorho
