Relax, Tanya,

No one's attributing anything to you. No matter how things were quoted, no one would get the idea that you said anything bad about lawyers, or anyone else. John's comments did not appear to be directed at you in any way, from what I could see.

You posted the first reasonable and innocent question, and the evolution (or devolution, as the case may be) of the thread is obviously out of your hands.

Whatever's going on between John and Tom, or anyone else is not going to turn into a flame war. Tom's made his little tongue-in-cheek crack about lawyers, John has responded, and my guess is that it ends here.

Okay, well, I made a few lawyer jokes, but I'm entitled. And, even if I weren't entitled, no one pays attention to what I say, so no one will be offended, because everyone knows I didn't mean it.

So, again, relax. I know you're a bit jittery due to the last little set to between Lasse and Wheatfield, and Chris and Collin, and whoever else; that's understandable. My feeling is that everyone is just plumb tuckered out after that. We won't see a flame war for a while.

Actually, it's been a long time since we've had one. I was such a good boy, I didn't get involved at all! I'm so proud of myself. <vbg>

have a great day,
frank

Oh, god, here we go again, please don't let this thread detriorate as well. I just posted a simple question which was answered concisely by a number of helpful people, and now this...

Firstly before anyone goes jumping on me, it was not ME that made the
comment John is referring to, it is just that he has quoted me in the bottom
of his email - the same practice that somebody did the other day and that
got me into "trouble" offlist.

Secondly, I just realised that I majorly broke the law by posting that email
in its entirety with the disclaimer attached, I'll probably get into
"trouble" for that too.

Thirdly, Max, hope you have a great holiday mate, and sorry if your ears
were burning whilst you were away!

Fourthly, in regards to the title of this thread... the WEIRD thing around
here, in reality is how many people are acting "narky" and argumentative the
past few days. Honestly, there is something WEIRD happening to this list...
Maybe it's a full moon or something, I don't know but it is really driving
me to distraction. Only a few days ago, many of you would have proclaimed
to be close friends and now many of you are autodeleting each other.

I am going to quote Madonna once again in the hope to bring this list back
to what it once was... "Why is it so hard to love one another?"

<vbg>

It takes much more energy to nitpick and to hate then it does to smile and
say "each to his own"...

Sheesh guys, can't we just let bygones be bygones and get on with life...
(Lasse, Bill, Chris, Collin et al. hope you are reading this too! I really
like all of you guys, but this is so beyond the joke...)

And men say that women are bitchy?!?!? It seems to me that the past few
days, only the girls seem to be attempting to see reason around here in
their (so far unsuccessful) attempts to knock this stuff on the head.

I really am starting to wonder if I have made the right decision about going
to GFM, I am going to be travelling tens of thousands of kilometres and if
it is just to sit and hear people nitpick at each other over petty arguments
and differences of opinions, well, I think I'll save the $5k it is costing
me, renovate my house and ring my mother. I can listen to her nitpick any
day of the week and all it costs me is a .25c local telephone call...

Are you aware of the legal precedents that make these sort of disclaimers
necessary on email originating from a work-provided account?

I rather doubt it, of you wouldn't be quite so off-hand in your comment
about lawyers, and how much power they *should* be allowed.

Blame the courts, not the lawyers. Or, even better, don't blame anybody
(or, at least, not here) - this has nothing to do with photography.
