Check and make sure that the hole does indeed go all the way through
the adaptor. If it does, that should be all that is required.

Thread locking compounds come in a variety of strengths, from easily
removable to rent a jack hammer. I hesitate to recomend the stuff
though, as if you really want to be able to remove the ring down the
road, it might make it difficult to clean the threads on the lens
when you want to convert back to screw mount.

You should be able to lock it on sufficiently with the spring
attachment screw, providing it can be screwed entirely through the
adaptor.
