the first several paragraphs of the Modern Photography article can be paraphrased as: Black cameras are cool. Do you wish your camera was black? Manufacturer doesn't make one? You can do it yourself if you are handy. All you need is some black paint designed for metal finishing, sandpaper, and about 4 hours. You'll have to disassemble your camera to remove all of its chrome parts and it can't be undone, so keep that in mind.
one of the things i hated about Modern Photography was the layout. they would frequently start an article on one page and then continue on scattered pages seemingly placed at random following the introductory page.
