Hi!
I don't have *istD <sigh> but I've had remotely similar experience to
what you describe. I started to feel that my FA 50/1.7 wouldn't
autofocus in conditions where it was autofocusing just fine. By
accident I had removed the batteries from the grip and in a sense
re-booted the darn thing (my MZ-6 that is). Since then it is working
much better.
I therefore would suggest that you re-set your camera probably even
hard re-set by taking all power out of it...
On the other hand, perhaps you could try to play with AF and this lens
a little. Perhaps indeed you misjudged a little the conditions and it
wasn't supposed to come in focus... I found myself guilty of this few
times just as well.
