Sometimes, AF just kaaks, and there is nothing you can do about it.
I am surprised that once the situation changed, it didn't come back
for you though.
Might have been a software lock-up though, in which case turning the
camera off and removing/replacing the batteries is required.
If it happens a few more times, get yer local distributor to have a
look at it.
