To provide a better scan of a b&w neg have you put a filter behind the b&w neg and then had the software remove this color-cast mask?
I haven't tried it but I'm wondering if there would be any loss in

If you put the filter between the light source and the film and the film stays in the scanner's plane of focus, I don't expect you'd see a loss of sharpness. Back to the original question from Collin, I don't see what might be gained by adding a filter. Can you elaborate?
