Deep-fried Mars bars are a Scottish creation that escaped and are slowly making their way south into England and Wales. Not something I dare try :-)
They're delicious. Had one when I went to Scotland while living in England a few years back. Also had a deep fried Snickers bar at an Irish pub in Toronto. Go figure :)
Both were imported to Oz I believe - 'Pie and peas' is a well-know Yorkshire dish.
I think the yorkshire Pie and Peas is more like the disk with the same name you find in Queensland here ? Pie with mushy peas, or even whole.
The 'Pie Floater' is a pie, upside down, in pea soup, not mushy peas or anything, but actual soup. And it soaks in to the crust, and of course you have lots of sauce on it... delicious. Mmmm.... wonder if the pie vans still on north tce this time of night :)
