I just remembered something and it even brings this thread close to ON topic!!
Just remembered my photography professor expressing the idea that gelatin is 
REALLY disgusting to eat, particularly since the stuff sold for eating isn't 
even the highest-quality gelatin. Seeing as how the top-quality gelatin goes 
onto film ...
