I was just about to write a check for an Epson 3170 when I though it best to check with the scanning sophisticates on the list and get some current opinions on flatbed scanners. I'm mostly interested in getting high quality scans of old family photos, and, until I get a dedicated film scanner, some quick scans for proofing purposes for 35mm and med format negs. The Epson is comfortably within my price range for this item ($200.00 +/-) What other scanners should I consider?
