I see. I just remembered, that Pentax "excuse" for not making the DMS-S weas sensor problems. I know Nikon and pentax are using SONY sensors (D100, *ist D). I guess it would give a brand an advangtage to be able to spevcially co-disign camera and sensor. Are Canon making thier own? Fuji Film does. SONY does. Olympus? Minolta? I also read, that a lot af digital cameras are really made by Sanyo - which cameras I wonder? All the best

It's a little more complicated than this I suspect, for instance the sensor in the Kodak 14n was spec'd by Kodak, designed by FillFacory (Belgium) and fabricated at X-FAB (Plymouth -UK). http://www.fillfactory.com/htm/news/news.htm http://www.xfab.com/xfab/frontend/index.php4 So making your own sensor doesn't necessarily mean importing designers or building a fab plant.
