Mitusubishi is bleeding money, due to huge loses in their automotive business. They're trying to get DaimlerChrysler, a major shareholder, to bail them out.

<Gag> Wow! Now I'm *really* glad I don't own any Nikon gear! (I'm suppressing memories of when I was an electronics technician and worked on Mitsubishi audio and video gear...)

Anyway, the chances of Mitsubishi getting into a fab of this kind are
only slightly greater than those of Nikon doing so.
