T> And, I just discovered that Sigma has two lenses available - they are 28-70
T> f2.8-4, and a 28-105 f2.8-4. They are only USD$119 and $199 respectively at
T> B&H. Anyone have any experience with these?

Heard they are really bad.

Friend has the Sigma EX 28-70 2.8, uses it at concerts and weddings,
so far no problems. I haven't tried it myself though.

I had for a while the new Tokina 28-70 2.8 ATX SV, the cheaper version
of the ATX 2.6-2.8 (the new version is much more plasticky). It wasn't
so good wide open (but still quite better than consumer zooms). Sort
of little veiling glare muddying details.

It also behaved differently on digital and on film.

The old Sigmas (without any kind of inner focus, whole front rotates)
are pretty bad regarding flare, sharpness is good but at full bore it
is again veiled.

I am intersted in such a lens too or perhaps 24-70 2.8 Sigma, as I
am severely lacking a middle zoom for portraits and similar stuff.
