Hi again Jens! Nope, I didn't see your "overview shot". It didn't actually occur to me to look at any other shots on your site, just the wedding one! lol. A nice mix of flags in that shot! lol. And it gives great scale to the building. I had no idea it was so big! The royal family look positively tiny on that balcony!
I could totally see how you could get "caught up" in the atmosphere of the day. Watching it on television, the aerial shots showed hundreds of photographers racing to keep up with, and ahead of the bridal car as it wound its way to the cathedral. You could see all of these guys running along with huge zoom lenses in their arms! lol. Likewise with the open carriage. Re: the wedding being broadcast outside of Denmark! omigosh, it is one of THE biggest news stories to hit Australia in a long time. Over the previous week, there have been documentaries every night about Mary's life and their meeting/romance etc. They have even been running competitions in the women's magazines to win a dress the same as Mary's and also wedding rings copied from Mary's and Frederick etc. It has been huge! On Friday morning (the wedding was at 11.30pm Friday night, Australian time), there was one morning show on tv where they were all wearing akubra hats with tiaras attached to them! So funny! Anyways, not only was it broadcast on Australian tv live, but yesterday (Saturday), you could switch on any channel, at any given time, and see replays of the ceremony, talkshows discussing the ceremony, commentators talking about her dress etc. They have adopted the phrase "Our Mary" and say stuff like "from rags to riches" and "our fairytale princess" etc. I wish I were an Aussie photographer in Denmark at the moment, I'd be able to make that much money, I could probably set up our family for life with it! tan. -----Original Message----- From: Jens Bladt [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, 16 May 2004 9:27 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: The Royal Danish Fairytale Wedding Hello Tanya Nice to hear from you! No, I did't go to the cathedral. But judging from TV it was amazingly beautiful. I was actually jsut going to Copenhagen (40 km away) just to see the many streets without cars. But when we I got there (my 13 year old son and me), I got caught up in the huge event like evrybody else. I saw the open coach and took some pics (I let my MZ-S run through a 24 exp. film in 10 secs). I guess my film was finished before the coach was even visible - I couldn't hear the shutter because of all the noice (cameraa abovcea the head with a AMC A 2.8/20mm lens). (I'll get the film back Tuesday). I only shot a few - not very nice ones - with my SONY after that. Afterwards I walked to the castle to see Frederik and Mary on the Amalienborg balcony. I didn't know that this weedding was broadcasted outside Denmark! I'm glad you like my shot - and you are absolutely right about the Australian flag too. Now why didn't I think of that? Your stories about lady Di and about your kids falling asleep is very sweet - I can picture them very sleepy in front of the TV set :-). Did you notice my overview shot?: http://gallery46369.fotopic.net/p4458650.html All the best Jens Bladt mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hjem.get2net.dk/bladt -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: TMP [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sendt: 16. maj 2004 00:57 Til: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Emne: RE: The Royal Danish Fairytale Wedding Hey Jens! I knew I recognised that face in the crowd! ;-) Of course, being a girly girl, and an Aussie to boot, I stayed up late and watched the wedding live, just so I could look at all the proootty dresses. I was a bit disappointed with the bridesmaid's attire! lol. Have you had a chance to go to the Cathedral and view the decorations? They said that it ws to be open to the public. I was amazed and almost appalled at the same time by the flowers in that Church. It was nothing short of phenonemal and completely beautiful, but at the same time, the amount that they spent on those flowers could probably have fed a third world country for a year! I love your pic - the flag in the foreground is not only a great technical addition, with its framing, but it also adds a wonderful "comment" to the pic about the international nature of the wedding. It could only have been topped, I believe by having a similar, out of focus Australian flag on the left! Obviously, you were in the crowd and it was out of your control (I saw how big that bloody crowd was!!), so you are of course forgiven! ;-) Great shot, and a momentous occasion that you can share with your kids and grandkids in years to come. I remember being 4 years old and just ADORING Princess Di. I had this huge scrap book with all of these magazine and newspaper clippings of her (wish I still had it now, it'd probably be worth a fortune!), and I stayed up late and watched her marry Charlie with stars in my eyes. My boys wanted to stay up and watch Mary and Frederick but both fell asleep before they even arrived at the church so spent most of yesterday watching reruns of it on tv! lol. Sorry, to digress, but anyways, it is a great pic... -----Original Message----- From: Jens Bladt [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, 15 May 2004 6:03 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: PAW:The Royal Danish Fairytale Wedding This has got to be a PAW.
