"but you find them selling for less than 10
times the price of a modern camera."

I meant to say but you WONT find them etc...

See, this is were a forum would be really nice, to correct those confusing
grammatical errors that spellchecker misses.

Yes but both of those are available today. The A* lens is discontinued and
hence has a higher value. Its called supply and demand. There's also
little sense in trying to understand the actions of what is probably a
Pentax collector. An old civil war era camera probably takes rather blurry
pictures by today's standards, but you find them selling for less than 10
times the price of a modern camera.

$1730 US is a silly price even for the highly regarded Pentax A*
135/1.8. The lens is rare, and some would say good, but good lenses
are not hard to find nowadays for much less money.

Let's see, my Nikon D100 and AF 135/2 DC lens together cost just a
little more than this guy spent for one old Pentax manual focus A*
135/1.8.

In other words, for that kind of money, one can switch brands and get
a pretty darn good lens and a camera to go with it for the same money.

At B&H,  the Canon EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens  is $859 new;
Nikon AF DC Nikkor 135mm f/2.0D Autofocus Lens is $1069 new. Both
these lenses run about $650 used.
