The impromptu long exposures and the non-infinity focus do sound
like symptoms of possible "sticky mirror syndrome", Sid.

I'm pretty sure that the non-infinity focus could be a tip off for
"sticky mirror syndrome", but I'm not so sure about the long
exposures - I think that "sticky mirror" is more likely to cause a
delay on firing, but maybe a delay in the mirror returning could be
symptomatic, too (maybe...). The "sticky mirror" does not actually
cause the shutter itself to stay open too long, though, I wouldn't
think...

If it indeed is "sticky mirror", then a CLA is called for, at maybe
not much less than $200 via Pentax USA.
