My K1000 has seen a number of Northern Canadian winters(usually -20 c during the 
day)and
has 
functioned well.If you have a light meter,the batteries in the K1000 for its meter can 
be
removed.If you 
want screwmount,i'd say the SV or S3 would be ok.
