I have used the pop up on the PZ-1a few times  since owning it,and it worked out quite
well. I used the 
pop up on the SF-1 just after a foal was born at the farm,as i did not want to blast 
the
mom and her 
with a big flash in the stall.Nice pictures and it did not bother either of them.
It was good up to about 8-9 feet anyway.

One of the reasons i'm considering adding the *istD to the line up  IS for the flash,as
the Nikons are 
sans.
