How about a few nice, fast primes that are appropriately sized for the camera. These cheap, slow zooms do neither the camera nor the medium justice. Crap in, crap out ... crummy DOF, distortion galore ... what has photography come to when mediocre is something to which one can aspire and excellence is becoming but a photographic footnote?
