Hi David, Obviously I look forward to hearing your comments on this type of subject matter however I wouldn't mind if you could further elaborate on some points you raised. WRT sharpness the original file was pretty sharp, the resized file didn't seem to benefit greatly from too much sharpening and the file size limitations of photo.net preclude further sharpening without detrimental effect to the final image quality. So I'm a little disappointed that it seems unsharp to you as the original has quite good sharpness. I don't believe that I would have gained anything more than DOF if I had stopped the lens down any further as I would have lost sharpness due to slower shutter speeds and from my testing the lens is already offering greater resolution than the *ist D can resolve even wide open. Unfortunately my A200/4 Macro is a little under-utilized at the moment, it's generally a little too long for me but I'll guarantee they it offers no more sharpness than the 125V (you will have to test the pair one day, the offer is still open). This brings me to the last point, how noisy does it look on your browser? I can't see it and given that it's already undergone substantial size reduction I can't understand how any noise would still be visible? Maybe it is a function of the compression I really don't know?
