I doubt that they would put any more R&D or retooling into film SLR's.
So to me it would mean no changed to the current line unless there
were a simple firmware change that could be made.  I just suspect that
they couldn't recoup the cost.

My local store here (Nikon & Pentax) that stocks everything Nikon said
that they almost NEVER sell a new Nikon Film body about the N80. They
haven't for about the past year.  Most higher end Nikon sales are
going digital.
