I like both these shots, but especially the pitstop with the ripples, I assume from either fuel vapors or heat.

Here are a couple of shots from last weekend up at Portland International Raceway.
One thing I've discovered with the *ist-D; the extra crop factor multiplies all your mistakes, as well as everything else. I had a group of shots with the A* 300/2.8 + 1.7AF, and some were awful, while others worked just fine.
These, however, are shot with the 250-600 and the 80-200/2.8 respectively. The first (pitstop) one is cropped quite a bit; the second is pretty much only cropped to get the 4:3 ratio I wanted for a desktop background image.
