AF in *istD is slow below certain light level. Mostly due to its smaller AF
sensors size - they are about 2x smaller than the ones in MZ-S and catch
less light. When compared to MZ-S with identical lens, MZ-S is about 2x
faster in low light. The only solution would be to double AF sensors - one
set for low light and the other for higher light levels - exactly as it is
made in Nikon F100 known quite well for its good AF speed in low light.
But in good light I feel that *istD AF catches much more easily than any
older Pentax AF camera on almost everything, probably thanks to cross type
sensors sensitive to both - horizontal and vertical lines. Another plus for
the newest Safox in *istD is that it doesn't suffer from infinity bug found
in MZ-S - when you focus fast lenses in infinity it really sets infinity in
lens, not "almost" infinity like MZ-S does (I tested and confirmed it with
FA 35/2, FA 50/1.7 and FA 100/2.8).
