If the lens isn't reaching infinity what needs to happen is the focus helicoid needs to be allowed to draw the lens closer to the body before the infinity stop is reached. This adjustment can be implemented using different means between lenses within the same family, as has been mentioned you really need to inspect the mechanism carefully to determine what is appropriate for that lens.
