Probably a sneaky way of inserting more advertising into the telecast. Wasn't Canon buying advertising a while back with a famous tennis player talking about how good the Canon autofocus was? I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was pre-arranged. Canon probably supplied the camera and plenty of $$$ to the tv network to aim the cameras at Mr. Williams.
