Hi Steve,
PSCS works extremely well on my computer. It's every bit as fast as PS6 was. I'm running it on a Mac G4 dual processor 1.25. I have a 200 gig firewire drive and the 70 gig drive that came with the computer. I keep at least 5 gig free on the 70 gig drive and 30 gig on the firewire drive. The startup drive, the 70 gig is my first scratch disk, the 200 gig firewire is my second. The only time I've experienced a problem was when using the browser with a folder that contained about sixty 250 meg files. That caused a slowdown that persisted after I left the browser. I ended up having to reinstall PhotoShop and delete the preferences. But everything has been perfect since then. I now use the browser only with folders of two gig or less. I really only need it for processing the files from my *ist D, and my largest card is one gig. The RAW Converter is very good. I can't fault it in any way. After making sharpness, exposure and other tweaks in the browser, the conversion of a RAW file to a 144 meg 16 bit file takes just seconds. Working in PS itself I haven't found any operations that cause a noticeable slowdown. Everything zips right along. And with all colorsynch profiles installed and my color preferences set to Colorsynch workflow, my prints match my monitor almost perfectly. Couldn't ask for more.

I seem to have misplaced my Pentax software disk, and this is motivating
me to buy a third party Raw converter. any suggestions? I'm using PS7,
BTW. I am debating switching to PS CS, but have been fairly put off by
comments on the list about performance. Does anyone here have a setup
that makes CS work really well, ie., with reasonable speed?
