I am using CS with the Raw plug-in (2.2 or wahtever it is). I have the scratch and secondary set to use separate drives, and use a heap of other plug-ins, and I am happy with the 'speed'. My machine is a WinXP Athlon 1900 with 512mb ram. It all depends on the image size naturally, but I find this setup works pretty well. It could be quicker, but I'm not interested in buying new hardware. Most of my image files are in the 3-15mb range, but some panoramas are as large as 100mb.
