I am, primarily, a prime lens user, and often find myself fitting the picture to the lens, so to speak. I expect most prime lens users either find themselves in the same situation. or they crop their images to some extent. I almost never crop an image. Almost every picture I have either printed or posted has been an uncropped image. This shot was done with a zoom. I rarely "compose" a picture. If I see something that interests me, I look at it through the viewfinder and adjust the camera position until the picture looks right. Then I trip the shutter. I find with the view camera that I spend far more time calculating exposure than I spend under to dark cloth. In this case, I chose the focal length, because I could. I didn't actively compose the picture, per se. I looked through the viewfinder and adjusted things until the picture looked right. I expect that if I had a prime lens mounted, the picture would have been very different. William Robb
