I use both the Tamron 7 element 2X AF model and 1.4 XL Pentax with my FA
*200 f:2.8.  I don't really notice a loss of sharpness as much as a slight
change in contrast.  This only occurs with the Tamron.  The 1.4 XL does a
great job and other than a loss of AF, I don't really notice it is on.  I
believe that the FA 300 f:4.5 cannot use the XL converters because the rear
element would get in the way of the snout on the converters.  You will
either have to use the XS converters or try a Tamron, Tokina or Sigma.
