For some reason I quite like the background. I suspect others will hate it :) I find the shapes interesting but due to the smooth tones it's not distracting. It's almost like an abstract artwork by itself, with these great big striped caterpillars getting in the way. It's one of those photos that doesn't quite work but I like it anyway.

I also really like the background - it looks wonderfully smeared and abstract. I'd want the depth of field a bit deeper, but that would make it more of a "this is what i saw" shot, rather than the more artistic take that it is...but if the DoF was deeper then you'd lose some of the abstractness of the background and probably end up with a shot that while technically great wouldn;t be one to put on the wall. I think that means i prefer it this way...i think :)


My main problem would be finding a room which this would match the colour scheme for :)
