Hi Pentaxers,

Having read replies and been directed to various websites with reviews of
the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX APO zoom, I've decided to take the plunge and
get one, replacing my ageing-but-still-very-capable Tokina AT-X 80-200.

Thanks to Ryan, Tiger, Brian, Steve, and Pentax Clover for the info.
Here's a few relevant websites:

The last one is in French, and mine is fairly rough, but it's worth a
look, merci Pentax Clover. (Alors, pourquoi 'Clover'??)

And to prices! This is the disheartening bit. Here in the UK, prices vary
from steep to crazy. Cheapest I could find is about 650 UKP, which is
Ouch++ for me. Most expensive was about 800 UKP which is Spasm-, and
ridiculous.

As usual, the North Americans have it pretty good. Cheapest I saw there
was 699 USD plus NY state tax at Gemini <http://www.geminiphoto.com/> but
most others were another fifty bucks or so higher than that, blowing the
socks off UK prices. I didn't check out Canada or Australia or anywhere
else - because I'm fortunate to have a friend in New York who will be
popping into B + H next week to pick me one up. This 'enabling' business
travels faster than Foot and Mouth! It's still a large investment, but
I've weighed up cost vs. need (as usual it cost too much and I don't need
it but that's never stopped me in the past). I'll hopefully get back a
couple of hundred quid from the Tokina which will be in AP soon. My
friend will be visiting in a month, so I'll update with impressions then.

Meanwhile, MX and drive, Delta 400 and Tokina 28-70 and myself are going
into the operating theatre on Thursday - I'm hoping to get some pics of a
brain surgeon at work. I might ask if he can whip out my 'enabling
cortex' while I'm there - thank the stars for Visa.

Cheerio,

Cotty
