Why? 50mm and 100mm do vastly different things. If you need the AOV of a 50mm, the 100mm is absolutely useless.
If you need the working distance of the 100mm, the 50mm is absolutely useless. Neither one is better than the other for everything anymore than a regular non-macro 100mm lens is better for everything than a regular non-macro 50mm lens.
